Personal Project - September 2023
These experiential robotic flower where built for the 2023 independent interactive Spectacle Society Art Show.
These 7 flowers are constructed from 3d printed parts, white lycra, LED's, and CNC cut baseplates. They were built over 2 weeks worth of evening's with a budget of less the $800 (most of which was spent on the lycra).
Power was provided by a 12v car battery, and distributed over Ethernet cables.
This was designed as a learning and research project, and provided an outlet to explore ideas and methods without the pressure of client expectations.
Based on what I learned from these showings, the flowers have continued to evolve. A revised version is being constructed for the 2024 summer season.
This project owes a special thanks to Teresa Woods, without whom sewing all that lycra would have taken me weeks!
